It was an incredible month getting back into the work that we feel God has called us to. While I was excited to go back to the camp and focused on the logistics of working in the camp, God used my sister to recenter my heart. She sent me this article and although it wasn’t necessarily “new” information for me, it was as if I was reading about the atrocities in DR Congo for the first time. God was breaking my heart all over again for the women suffering in this war!

While reading the article, my train of thought went all over the place. It began with “This is literally hell on earth, satan incarnate. And moved to questions of how? why? and disbelief. Then my heart ached this plea, “Please Jesus, come. Come quickly” More practically I suddenly wished I was a doctor, momentarily contemplated going back to school. Then quickly changed to, I wish I was a therapist. And I ended up desperately calling out to God, weeping, what can I do? Where do I even begin?…
